The most mildew resistant of the cultivars, ‘Jacobs Cline’ is also taller than other varieties. Plant has tubular, red flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Leaves are fragrant. Does best in moist to wet soils in full sun to part shade. Drought tolerant.
Native Americans used this plant as an antiseptic, to treat minor wounds and skin infections, as well as making a tea from the leaves. Today, the leaves are still used to make tea and for salads.
