Violet blue flowers with a yellow eye atop narrow, iris-like foliage with branched stems. Despite the common name, blue-eyed grass, Sisyrinchium is not a grass, but belongs to the iris family.

This ground cover is often found growing in lawns. Grows well in moist to dry soils, but needs good drainage, prefers full sun but will tolerate light shade. Rhizomatous.
